Spyker has created some rather meticulous and artistic sports cars in the last 16 years. Now, they are preparing a return to the 2016 New York International Auto Show, joining a list of other exotics like the Koenigsegg One:1 and the Koenigsegg Regera. Although performance details are slim, the car does include an Audi V8 engine with a supercharger.
“We are delighted to be back at the New York International Automobile Show to unveil the new Spyker C8 Preliator in one of our most important markets,” said Victor R. Muller, Spyker Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
According to Muller, the United States is a strong market, although only 50 C8 Preliators will be produced.
“Historically, Spyker has sold half of its production in the U.S., with a very large number of cars sold through the company’s first U.S. dealer, Manhattan Motor Cars,” he said.
“Preliator” means “fighter” or “warrior” in Latin and pays tribute to the company’s aviation heritage. Fighters were a type of warplane made by Spyker between 1914 and 1918. Today, it symbolizes the adversity Spyker has faced the past few years, including a voluntary financial restructuring.
The third-generation Spyker C8 Preliator will make its North American debut on Thursday, March 24th.
